El nuevo aeropuerto, desarrollado para Ethiopian Airlines, apunta a convertirse en un hub global con capacidad para 110 millones de pasajeros al a\u00f1o<\/em><\/p>\n

La firma Zaha Hadid Architects<\/strong> (ZHA<\/strong>) ha dado inicio formal a la construcci\u00f3n del Aeropuerto Internacional de Bishoftu<\/strong>, en Etiop\u00eda, un proyecto emblem\u00e1tico concebido como el principal aeropuerto de \u00c1frica para Ethiopian Airlines<\/strong> y que se perfila como el nodo de transporte a\u00e9reo m\u00e1s grande del continente.<\/p>\n

La ceremonia de colocaci\u00f3n de la primera piedra se realiz\u00f3 el pasado 10 de enero de 2026, con la presencia del primer ministro et\u00edope Abiy Ahmed Ali<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ubicado aproximadamente 40 km al sur de Addis Ababa<\/strong>, este nuevo aeropuerto est\u00e1 dise\u00f1ado para convertirse en un hub global de aviaci\u00f3n, con un plan maestro que contempla m\u00faltiples fases de desarrollo, cuatro pistas de vuelo<\/strong> y capacidad para hasta 110 millones de pasajeros al a\u00f1o<\/strong>, superando por mucho la infraestructura actual en la regi\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

Un proyecto con ambici\u00f3n continental<\/strong><\/h2>\n

La primera fase del proyecto planea dar servicio a 60 millones de pasajeros anuales<\/strong>, con una terminal de gran escala<\/strong> y sistemas de operaci\u00f3n avanzados<\/strong> que priorizar\u00e1n la eficiencia del flujo de viajeros, especialmente aquellos en tr\u00e1nsito, ya que se espera que hasta 80% sean pasajeros de conexi\u00f3n entre destinos internacionales sin salir del aeropuerto.<\/p>\n

No obstante, m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de su funci\u00f3n aeroportuaria, el proyecto incluye una \u2018Airport City\u2019<\/strong>, que integrar\u00e1 usos mixtos como comercio, hoteler\u00eda y ocio, con un hotel de 350 habitaciones, \u00e1reas de restauraci\u00f3n y jardines que responden al clima local.<\/p>\n

Asimismo, el dise\u00f1o contempla espacios p\u00fablicos<\/strong> para la comunidad local, lo que refleja un enfoque integral que va m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de la mera infraestructura de transporte.<\/p>\n\"\"<\/a>\n

Arquitectura inspirada en el contexto<\/strong><\/h2>\n

El dise\u00f1o del terminal, liderado por ZHA<\/strong>, busca una arquitectura fluida<\/strong> que facilite la navegaci\u00f3n y reduzca distancias de transferencia. Los materiales y paletas de color seleccionados se inspiran en la diversidad geogr\u00e1fica de Etiop\u00eda, incluyendo referencias al Gran Valle del Rift, que atraviesa la regi\u00f3n de Bishoftu.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s, la planificaci\u00f3n responde al clima subtropical templado<\/strong> de la zona, incorporando ventilaci\u00f3n natural, protecci\u00f3n solar integrada y paisajismo con vegetaci\u00f3n nativa de baja necesidad h\u00eddrica, lo que refuerza un enfoque sostenible adaptado a las condiciones locales.<\/p>\n
